Des Vignobles de Campagne Maison

Bonjour from Campagne Maison

It must be all the rain that we have gotten over the past couple of months! The apple trees produced early and now the grapes!

I have been making Apple Jelly and Apple Butter for the past week and actually wasn't expecting the grapes to be ready for a couple more weeks. I happened to go out and check the vines yesterday afternoon and was surprised to see them loaded with luscious ripe grapes. I picked and cleaned ten quarts on the first harvest and the vines are still producing. Looks like the next few days I will be found in the kitchen making jelly and jam! It is alot of work but I really enjoy the entire process--from the harvesting to the eating.

Thanks for stopping by the farmhouse for a visit today. We love having company.

Au revoir,

As a city girl transplanted to the rolling farmlands of Lancaster County, PA, one of the first things I learned to do is put up my own jellies and jams. A lot of work and prep but I loved it. Like making soap, there is joy in the ritual of producing your own. I bet your kitchen smells heavenly. Sea Witch

Hi Jacque,
I've never heard of Apple Jelly or Apple Butter....isn't that weird? Sure sounds yummy though. Those grapes look beautifully delicious.

Beautiful grapes - I love that dusky purple.

Your French newspaper is FINALLY in the mail - yesterday (hanging my head in procrastinator's shame)

Sea Witch--yes, the farmhouse smells like a fragrant potpourri with the cinnamon and cloves from the Apple Butter!

Ana--Well, I will post the recipe to the Apple Butter on my blog a little later. I love it but it may be something that a person has to aquire a taste for, one of those things that you will either love or hate, no in-between.

The grapes do make a delicious jelly and jam. My grandson happens to think that his "mamaw" which is ME, makes the best! That is worth the making, for sure.

Thanks Lorrie--that gives me something exciting to look forward to--I can hardly wait for it to arrive!

Thanks for the comments ladies!
