Bonjour from Campagne Maison
Tongue Twisters
A tongue twister is a phrase, sentence or rhyme that presents difficulties when spoken because it contains similar sounds - "Whistle for the thistle sifter" for example. To get the full effect of a tongue twister you should try to repeat it several times, as quickly as possible, without stumbling or mispronouncing.
Tongue twisters have long been a popular form of wordplay, particularly for schoolchildren, but they also have a more serious side - being used in elocution teaching and in the treatment of some speech defects.
Try to tackle this tricksy tongue twister today!
A tree toad loved a she-toad
Who lived up in a tree.
He was a two-toed tree toad
But a three-toed toad was she.
The two-toed tree toad tried to win
The three-toed she-toad's heart,
For the two-toed tree toad loved the ground
That the three-toed tree toad trod.
But the two-toed tree toad tried in vain.
He couldn't please her whim.
From her tree toad bower
With her three-toed power
The she-toad vetoed him.
My tongue is so twisted I have to stop here!
Grab Ms. Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday button on my sidebar and hurry on over to class and read all the other great "T"s for today.
Thanks for stopping by the farmhouse for a visit today. We love having company!

I was laughing out loud by the time I tripped up on the second line!
You lost me on the first line...I tried a couple of times....lol...this was a great T post.
I tried and it turns out I am terrible at tongue twisters.
Oh I could never do tongue twisters! What a fun T post!!
I've never mastered "Susie Sells Seashells" so I'm almost certain I couldn't even get through the first line of that!
What a fun stop! I didn't even think of this as a T word and it was Terrific!
A+
I've heard a lot of tongue twisters but never that one. I was never good at them but I always liked to watch other people do them and lol.
Terrific Tongue Twisters! When I was teaching full time I always began my speech and drama classes with tongue twisters-the kids love them!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
This was such a fun post. DH just came out, shook his head, and went back to working on his guitar. I was saying this out loud and cracking up, I think he suspects I've finally lost my mind :) Kathy
Oh my goodness, that Tree Toad one was a song that I did in a choir when I was like 12 or something. Thanks for the memory and for a great T-post!
OMG you had me at the title. What fun, I am so glad you chose this and I can't wait to share it!!!
what a fun post ... and i didn't get through the whole toad thing very well, i was tripping right away! lol
I read it out loud and I sounded like I had a speech defect - or a mental block! I turned into a blubbering block head after this (he, he, he) and I thought I was ok before ... thanks!
this is fun...but i could barely get through the second line...my tongue is not only twisted, but seems to have grown too big for my pie hole!
Well what a test, I'm afraid I couldn't do it, too twisty for me.
Maggie
That's a great tongue twister. I'm pretty good at them. I can read Fox in Socks, no sweat.
That was TOO cute! *TeeHee* great post!
I tried it and maybe its too early for me LOL especially that English is a second language! Your post was fun and creative. You can come to my Tea Party and share it! If you dont mind me asking was your name Jacqueline or has it always been Jacque? Take care,
Anne-Marie
I didn't even say it out loud and I still messed up! That is a wicked tongue twister for sure!
I couldn't even read it, much less say it out loud. It was fun though. Just think, "U" is next. I know we will be entertained and educated.
Oh dear, maybe I should have started at the end of the link list instead of the beginning. I haven't had enough coffee to wrap my mouth around those this morning!
Bonjour neighbor...my tongue is so twisted I'm not sure I can...oh, no talking just type...fine as wine post Jacque..Peace and blessings says the old toad
my mom taught us tons of these when we were kids, thanks for taking me back :D
Oh my, those are challenging. Thanks for the fun post!
Hi Jacque! I failed terribly trying your tongue twister. But I had a great giggle!! I am following you now. Come stop in for a visit when you have a chance!
Love,

Interesting choice of T-word.
Great tongue-twister about the toad boy and girl! Really funny. You put a smile on my face today! (But I do also recognise the educational aspects of teaching children tongue-twisters!)
Best wishes,
Anna

I tried, and now my tongue is tired..Great exercise thought :-)
LOL! Most days I have a hard time saying just a simple sentence! Good post, thanks for the smile!
I love tongue twisters! They are so much fun and my students love them as well. We have a contest to see how fast we can say them!
Oh Jacque, I so needed a post like this today. It brought a smile to my face and one I so needed in light of this horrible oil leak in the gulf. My heart just aches for our wildlife and the fragile ecosystems they live in along the gulf. Sea Witch
I couldn't even READ it without getting all tangled up! Well played, Jacque, well played indeed.
OMG- that was quite a mouthful Ms Jacque. Love it!
Have a wonderful weekend.
big hugs,
Barb
I tried that tongue twister and didn't get very far!....I did get some strange looks from my husband!
Great T post!
