Joyeux Anniversaire a moi!

Bonjour from Campagne Maison

It's my birthday, so I made my own cake!! Well, o.k., not really. BUT, if I would have, it would have yellow roses on it, just like this one. I love yellow roses!

My mom, who is now 87 years young, usually makes me a cake. I am not sure if she is going to be up to the task today but I did see the lights burning over at her house when I got up at 5 a.m. this morning.

Today, I am sure that I will hear the story about my untimely arrival--for the hundredth time. (....it was the day after New Years Day, and my dad...well, he was still out celebrating-- if you know what I mean...and she was in hard labor with no doctor, etc...etc..etc...) But, that will be o.k. I will let her tell it again. Any mother that birthed nine children, all at home without the aid of pain killers, can tell the story as many times as they like...can't they??

Thanks for stopping by the farmhouse for a visit today. We love having company!

Au revoir,

Jacque, Happy Belated Birthday! I'm a January birthday child myself. I was born in a hospital on the 18th, but every January when it is wet and cold I think of my mom with extra special appreciation. Caring for an infant is no small task, especially during the years of cloth diapers, no electric dryer, etc. I'm sometimes amused that young mothers today seem to need all the advantages that we have in our lives as well as a house keeper, nanny, etc. I'm not a mom myself, and I'm not criticizing these moms, just amused. We all live a much easier life now.
So happy, happy year to you, Jacque. Thank you for your friendship. ~ Sarah
