Throwing the Bouquet

"Throwing the bouquet"

Today my husband and I celebrate our 42nd Wedding Anniversary!

I know. I was a child bride--married at age 16. He was 21 ½. It was June 16, 1967.

My mother and my sister, Patricia, made all the wedding plans--every detail from the dress, to the flowers, to the reception. I kept my promise to my family to finish high school.

My husband likes to tell the story of how "when he first saw me he told his friend that I was the girl that he was gonna marry. He says "it was love at first sight". He had a motorcycle and I had a thing for older guys that had motorcycles. He asked me if I would like to take a ride with him and I've been riding ever since. It was the 60's. It was the best of times!

Thanks for stopping by the farmhouse to visit today. We just love having company!

Au revoir,

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I remember your first date with Sammy, it seems like it was only yesterday. We were young, carefree and loving life, when Sammy pulled up on his motorcycle. I think he reminded you of Peter Fonda or maybe it was Marlon Brando. Heck, it has been so long I don't remember that which one. He followed you around like a little puppy and you were very smitten with him yourself. It takes two special people to stay together forty-two years. I wish you both many more years of life, love and happiness together!

Happy Anniversary!
Wow! 42 years. That's so great, not just because it's been 42 years but also because you still seem so very much in love. How inspiring, you are truly a role model. Wishing you guys many more wonderful anniversaries and tons of blessings.

Thanks to everyone for all the sweet comments and anniversary wishes. "The road had been long with many a winding turn"...but God has given grace when it was needed and strength to overcome the obstacles that 42 years had in its path, and you know there have been plenty--because THATS a LONG journey! I wouldn't change a day of my life because I know that my steps have been ordered by God. 1 Cor:13

YOU DO NOT LOOK LIKE YOU COULD BE MARRIED THAT LONG even if you were a child bride! Girl, you are beautiful and lucky to have that long of a life together! I am going on 28 years and yes, it has been a pleasant ride. My best to you and thanks for coming to visit me. I hope all things are well at la maison! Blessings to both of you, Anita

OMG!! BIG CONGRADULATIONS!!!I LOVE A GREAT LOVE STORY. I'm alittle late with the love...but better late than never. The motorcycle makes it concrete!I ride too I'll have to post some pics of what I refer to as "Baby Sister." my bike.If you add both of my marriages (oops now I'm telling on myself) they only add up to 25 so I'd say 42 is already Golden.Oh by the way love the chair slips made me want to do some (the toile was my favorite.I understand what you mean about those projects they are never ending and a new find just adds one to the list.
